Grammy Award-winning pianist to kick off Clinton College music series

Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Laurence Hobgood will perform on March 14 at the Clinton Community College Technology Center as part of the college’s annual Visiting Artist series.

Hobgood, who won a Grammy as a producer in 2010, has worked as a producer, instructor, music collaborator and composer, the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce said.

The performance is part of the college’s 2017 lineup of visiting artists who will perform in both Clinton and Maquoketa, Iowa. This year marks the 43rd year of the school's program, which aims to give students, working people and the elderly easy access to live music.

The Visiting Artist season will continue on April 13, when the string trio Simply Three performs at the college’s technology center in Clinton.

Violinist Glen McDaniel, cellist Zack Clark and bassist Nicholas Villalobos will perform works that blend classical music with modern pop tunes.

The performance is part of the annual Enrichment Courses for Retirees event.
