The Morrison Institute of Technology recently named Derek Hobbick its Student of the Month for his volunteer work on campus and in the community.

Hobbick, a first-year engineering technology student, was honored for his efforts as a student ambassador for the college, his participation in student government and his work with a campus group that unloaded items for the Morrison Food Pantry.

“Derek Hobbick has been helpful with our recruitment efforts as an ambassador on campus as well as accompanying me back to his home high school of Metamora,” the person who nominated Hobbick said. “Derek stayed the entire day at the high school, telling the students about the benefits of a Morrison Tech education.”

Hobbick plans to work in the defense industry after completing his education, the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce said.
