Albi's Future Farmers of America chapter takes home several prizes during regional convention

Fifteen students representing Albia’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter recently took home several prizes at Iowa’s 2017 FFA South Central District convention at Centerville High School.

Having pre-qualified prior to the convention, Albia's FFA members excelled in quiz contests. Its Greenhand Quiz team — including Lauren Kaldenberg, Becca Pistek, Logan Rozenboom and Curtis Clark — received a gold rating and finished in first place. Albia's quiz participants Joe Beary, Collette Teno and Ashley Yenger merited a silver rating.

A group of Albia students also earned a silver rating for a recruitment presentation, a gold rating in welding and Micaleah Stewart and Ashley Yenger won academic achievement awards.

Hannah Curry, Joe Beary and Micaleah Stewart received gold ratings during the book competition and will advance to the state level.

FFA seeks to impact students’ lives through leadership development, opportunities for personal growth and agricultural education, according to the Iowa FFA website.
