Mason City hosts 79th annual North Iowa Band Festival

The 79th annual North Iowa Band Festival will feature several bands from a variety of genres, including headliner Chris Hawkey.

The festival will take place from May 25-29 in Mason City.

Thrillbillies will open the festival on May 26 with an electric show full of county music and great stage presence. Country artist Chris Hawkey, who is best known for his single "My Kind of Crazy," will headline the event.

The party continues on May 27 with a musical performance by Betty and the Gents. The group plays mix of modern and classics. Betty and the Gents will be followed by a performance from The Pork Tornadoes.

The festival also includes performances from local groups, such as Mason City Municipal Band, Mason City Middle School Band, High School Jazz Band and The MoHawk Danzers.

The event is free.
