Winneshiek Medical Center recently hosted its Volunteer Roundup appreciation event at Nob Hill, honoring 125 volunteers and members of the center’s boards.

Members of the Auxiliary Board, Foundation Board and board of trustees, including active volunteers, were recognized for their hard work and often overlooked dedication to their craft, according to a press release. Speaker Kathy Moe from UnityPoint in Fort Dodge delivered a speech on the continued changes in healthcare and the importance of good volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinator Karla Bakken said how much the center appreciates the group's continued support.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around,” she said, according to the release. “You, our volunteers, truly give of yourselves every time you volunteer your time for WMC. At Winneshiek Medical Center, we are proud you have chosen to be one of us.”
