Principal Financial Group’s board of directors has elected a new president of United States insurance solutions.
Amy C. Friedrich will be taking over the position, effective immediately, replacing Deanna Strable-Soetout. Strable-Soetout became chief financial officer for the company earlier this year.
“Amy brings more than 20 years of business experience, and more recently, 13 years of increasing responsibility within our Specialty Benefit Division,” Daniel J. Houston, chairman, president and CEO at Principal, said in a press release. “Her strong leadership skills, background in strategy development, and drive for innovation will help her be successful in this expanded role.”
Several others have also joined the principal board of directors, including chief digital officer Gary Scholten. His role will focus on growing the technologies and digital platforms at the company.
“Digital technologies are critical when it comes to producing results and delivering an experience that meets the changing needs of our customers,” Houston said. “They’re changing interactions and expectations everywhere and this signals our commitment to having them change Principal, too. Gary will do an outstanding job moving our digital strategy forward.”
He will remain executive vice president and chief information officer.
