Iowa ranks 21st across the country for revenue from college athletics, according to data obtained from the U.S. Department of Education.

Iowa ranks 21st across the country for revenue from college athletics, according to data obtained from the U.S. Department of Education.

According to data gathered by the Higher Education Tribune on revenue generated from college athletics from both public and private schools at all levels, with 27 schools, Iowa sees approximately $327.7 million in revenue. The University of Iowa brings in the most revenue in the state, with $117 million. If broken down per capita, Iowa sees $105 per person in revenue.

Texas has the highest total revenue from college athletics at approximately $1.15 billion, while Washington, D.C., ranks highest per capita with $155 of revenue per person in the population.
