The Muscatine Art Center will open an exhibition for local artist Carol Steinmetz called: “Carol Steinmetz: An Artist’s Spectrum” on Aug. 5.
The exhibition will feature an overview of Steinmetz’s works covering a 40-year period.
A reception for Steinmetz will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 13, and she will speak at 2 p.m.
The works will trace the journey she has traveled as a painter and how her works have evolved over time from those that involved oil to the florals and barns and her recent exploration of abstract and mixed media.
“When I was introduced to painting, it became my challenge and pursuit," Steinmetz said in the press release. "I wanted to try any and all of the art media from drawing and pastel to watercolor and oil,”.
Steinmetz is not new to exhibitions as her watercolors have been displayed at various locations throughout the region, including the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic’s Project Art and the Clinton Art Gallery, among others.
In addition, Steinmetz has taught art classes for adults, designed covers for local publications and has groomed young people interested in watercolor painting.
