Urbandale residents gave the community high marks in The National Citizen Survey, making it the winner of the Built Environment category in the Voice of the People Awards, according to a press release.
The Voice of the People Awards highlight local governments and are given to communities based on residential opinion. Locals get to give their own critiques and praise, which determine the nominees for categories such as Community Engagement, Safety, Mobility, Foundations of Livability, Recreation and Wellness, Education and Enrichment, Natural Environment, Built Environment and Economy.
This is ninth year of the Voice of the People Awards, presented by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and National Research Center Inc. Of all of the communities that participated in The National Citizen Survey last year, the winners and finalists for excellence in these categories received the highest of praise from residents.
City Manager A.J. Johnson was slated to accept the award at the 103rd Annual ICMA conference in San Antonio on Oct. 23.
