CITY OF AMES: Forums Scheduled to Educate Public on Community Development Block Grant Funding
City of Ames issued the following announcement on Jan. 23.
The City of Ames will host two public forums to educate the public on the status and the future of the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and to gather public feedback for its 2018-2019 Annual Action Plan projects.
The meetings will be held from 11:30 am to 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, in Room 235 of Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium, Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave.
The funding of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018, has not been announced. CDBG funds can be used to implement a wide variety of community and economic development activities directed towards neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and the provision of improved community facilities and services. The funded activities must meet the following three national objectives: 1) benefit persons of low and moderate income; 2) aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; and 3) meet other community development needs of particular urgency.
