Anne Cooper, chief human resources officer and senior vice president at Sammons Financial Group, has been inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at her alma mater Western Washington University (WWU).

She is one of five former WWU student athletes to receive the honor, as first reported in Wealth Management Wire.

“I'm honored and excited by this recognition,” Cooper said. “Having remained involved with my alma mater, Western Washington University, as a member of the Foundation Board, I have had the opportunity to give back in a number of ways. This is another very meaningful way to stay connected to an important part of my personal history.”

Cooper played for the Vikings during the 1980s while completing coursework to obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She holds the school's career record with 322 blocked shots, in addition to records for blocked shots in a single game and in a season. Cooper served as team co-captain during her junior and senior year, leading the team to the national quarterfinals in 1986.

Cooper then went on to attend Iowa State University and obtained a master’s and Ph. D. in industrial/organizational psychology.

A formal ceremony for the WWU Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be held in May.
