The City of Algona is now accepting applications for the Public Works Technician Position
The City of Algona, Iowa (Pop. 5,560) is seeking a Public Works Technician to serve as the City Building Inspector, enforce municipal, state, and building codes and maintain and collect data for the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS). This position reports to the Public Works Director. The Public Works Technician performs a variety of administrative, permitting, office, field, and specialized duties which require expertise, proficiency, and independent judgement.
Successful candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, have the ability to obtain an Iowa Class B Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement, have at least three years of experience in building inspections, construction, or building trades and two years of professional GIS experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to satisfy the job requirements.
