Being a family caregiver comes with many responsibilities. Whether you are caring for a young or adult child with special needs or for an aging relative, serving as a caregiver may stir up feelings of guilt as families struggle with what is best for the person in need and how it affects the rest of the family.

Why ATTEND Finances of Caregiving?

Understanding your choices means knowing your current situation. This program guides you through finding and collecting that information. It will take time, but it will be time well spent.

Don’t wait until there is a crisis to plan for long-term care.

Plan ahead while the care receiver still has the capacity to sign legal documents.

Involve all members of the family so that the care receiver’s wishes are clearly understood.

As the baby boomers age, the proportion of family caregivers to professional caregivers will increase.

What funds will be available to pay for care? Many people have an unrealistic idea of the cost of care and how Medicaid works.

Develop contingency plans depending on the progression of care needs and also for respite care.

If it is necessary for the caregiver to leave work or reduce hours, plans need to be in place to protect the caregiver’s retirement.

Each Tuesday, April 3rd – May 1st 11:30am – 1:30pm. See attached schedule or call 712-336-3488.
