About 41.3 percent of the 1,193 degrees and certificates handed out by the Iowa Western Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Bluffs conferred 486 associate's degrees and 7 certificates in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Data shows the school gave out 440 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, followed by 135 certificates in Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training and 123 associate's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse.

The college enrolled 6,081 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
