About 41.5 percent of the 2,017 degrees and certificates handed out by the Western Iowa Tech Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in City conferred 727 certificates and 109 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide. Data shows the school gave out 334 certificates in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide, followed by 168 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies and 145 certificates in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic).

The college enrolled 5,660 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
