About 30.8 percent of the 409 degrees and certificates handed out by the Northwest Iowa Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Sheldon conferred 68 associate's degrees and 58 certificates in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Lineworker. Data shows the school gave out 70 certificates in Lineworker, followed by 66 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies and 57 associate's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse.

The college enrolled 1,634 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
