81 percent of applicants to University of Northern Iowa were admitted for fall 2017


At University of Northern Iowa, 92 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Cedar Falls enrolled 11,861 students in fall 2017, including 9,961 in undergraduate and 1,900 in graduate programs, data shows. 8.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

91 percent of undergraduates are residents of Iowa, and 8 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (82 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (4 percent).

The school admitted 81 percent of the 5,494 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 41 percent enrolled.
