Graduates earn 3,594 degrees, certificates from Des Moines Area Community College


About 39.3 percent of the 3,594 degrees and certificates handed out by Des Moines Area Community College in 2017-18 were to students in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Ankeny conferred 1412 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies. Data shows the school gave out 1252 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies, followed by 348 certificates in welding technology/welder and 179 associate's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse.

The college enrolled 22,982 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
