New home sales in the Midwest down in August 2019 compared to last year

The estimated sales of new homes in the Midwest for the month of August 2019 was 63,000, compared to 69,000 for the same month the previous year, according to figures released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Census surveys provide current national and regional data on sales of new single-family houses.

Included are current-month estimates and revisions for previous months, for new houses sold and for sale at the national level and by Census Region, and for average and median sales prices at the national level.

The results help provide an overview of the nation’s current economic activity, and are used by manufacturers, insurance companies, and financial institutions to help ascertain supply and demand.
